Keep Your WiFi Networks Secure

Wireless security is vital since business without it isn’t easy. If you are using WiFi in your business, ensure it is secure. Using a wireless router keeps the WiFi out of sight from people since you can set it up so that it doesn’t broadcast its name.

With the finest wireless security in place, you’ll protect users’ privacy as well as prevent data breaches. Having a solid authentication ensures your WiFi network remains secure.  It’s also worthwhile to have encryption methods like AES to achieve higher security. Make sure you monitor your network activity to help you detect any potential threats.

Train Your Employees about Cybersecurity

Cyber attacks significantly impact businesses financially, and the prevalence of these incidents continues to grow annually. Human error is often a primary factor in data breaches. To mitigate this risk, it’s crucial to provide comprehensive cybersecurity training to employees.

Staff should be educated on setting strong passwords, recognizing phishing emails, and adhering to company security practices and policies. Establishing clear guidelines for handling customer information securely is also important. Implementing regular training programs and awareness campaigns can enable employees to identify and report cyber threats promptly, enhancing overall organizational security.

Password and Authentication

Weak passwords are a loophole that attackers can use to gain entry into your information. Therefore, ensure your employees have strong passwords and change them regularly every three months.  You can also implement a multi-factor authentication that needs more information before an employee logs in to the system. Make sure your employees do the following to reduce hackers gaining access to their passwords:

• Keep the passwords long and complex
• Have at least ten characters that contain percent signs, commas, parentheses, and upper and lower case letters.
• Don’t write down the passwords as they can easily be stolen
• Never use one password for several devices

Backup Vital Business Data

Make sure you back up all the critical data such as electronic spreadsheets, accounts receivable files, word processing documents, and financial files. If possible, have an automatic backup system and keep the copies in the cloud.

Keeping critical business information secure is important especially when stored on servers. Some of the reasons you should back up your data are to protect against data loss, business continuity, cost savings, and data security. The type of data you should backup are the company’s personal records, financial data, intellectual property, and payment data.

Cybersecurity is one aspect of your business that you should never neglect. Cybersecurity attacks can occur in your organization due to phishing emails and human error. Hackers are always on the lookout for an organization system with a breach. So make sure you are always one step ahead.
