While growing up, I knew myself to be a compassionate person, but I didn’t know there was another dimension to that. There is the feeling of pride and honor, and humility always prevails. As volunteer workers, people always recognize us for the courage and passion to serve despite being in a risky situation, but at the end of the day, it is fulfilling and worthwhile.

This world has opened doors for me to see situations of Children living with HIV/AIDS under the DUYAN program. It found difficulties of the family in the care of children, the secrecy of the child’s diagnosis, administration of antiretroviral, financial, hospitalizations, prejudice and the child’s mother’s death as facilities mentioned the fact of a child accepting the diagnosis, obtaining benefits, support of family, neighbors and friends.

Furthermore, it is necessary that we take our educational role with these families in order to assist them in the development of effective childcare strategies.
